Italian Accordionist

Accordion performer and accordion teacher, Maurizio De Luca approached the study of the accordion at a very young age.

 

He first started the study of piano and organ and then devoted himself to the study of classical concert accordion, winning several national and international competitions. Under the guidance of Maestro Luca Piovesan he began the study of contemporary and experimental repertoire for this instrument.


He graduated at the Gustav Mahler Privatuniversität in Klagenfurt in the class of Prof. Mag. Roman Pechmann, later attended master classes at the Italian Accordion Academy under the guidance of Maestro Claudio Jacomucci. Currently, he is specializing in contemporary music under
the guidance of Prof. Krassimir Sterev.
He has taken several master classes with such renowned teachers as: Massimo Nosetti, Duilio Dobrin, Marieke Hopman, Marie-André Joerger, Marko Kassl, Carmen Gaggl, Steven Loy and Andreas Borregaard.
He participated in the 51. Darmstadt Ferienkurse in 2023.


As a teacher he is active in Friuli, at the "Salvador Gandino" School of Music in Porcia, and in Austria, at "ACAL Leiva's" Private Music School in Klagenfurt and the Landesmusikschule in Maria Saal.


As a performer, he has performed as a soloist or in chamber ensembles, both in Italy and abroad, such as in Austria, Slovenia, Germany, Switzerland, France (Cité de la Musique in Strasbourg) and the Netherlands (Conservatorium van Amsterdam and Italian Cultural Institute in Amsterdam).
He has performed at several festivals, including: Musica nel Territorio, Festival Bielestele, Rassegna Giovani Musicisti, Festival Organistico Internazionale “G. B. Candotti”, Rassegna “Santa Cecilia”, “Le Dolomiti e più note”, “La Settimana Rossiniana” in Pesaro, “Simfonic Voice”, “Organi Storici del Cadore”, Rassegna Organistica “Laudate Dominum”, Donnerszenen and ORF-Musikprotokoll.

He performed for AMAT Marche, Stadttheater di Klagenfurt, TheaterHALLE11, la Gustav-Mahler Komponierhäuschen of Klagenfurt.

He collaborated with Conservatorio “Agostino Steffani” di Castelfranco Veneto, con l’Alma Mahler Musikverein e con l’Ensemble Zeitfluss.
He has premiered many pieces (Das Liebeskonzil und die Wolke, D. Kaufmann; Canvas, N. Šenk). He actively collaborates with composers, many of whom have dedicated pieces presented to him in world premiere, such as: M. A. Musumano; J. Gruchmann-Bernau; G. M. Durighello; E. Garcia Condes; Gianluca Castelli; Luisa Valeria Carpignano, Tinkara Zupan; and many others.


He has participated in television and radio broadcasts for Italian and Austrian broadcasters.
In 2018, he recorded a CD together with oboist Enrico Calcagni, published by the "Vermeer" label, gaining good critical acclaim also presented on Radio Beograd 3.


In 2021, he was awarded a research fellowship at the Philosophy Department of the University of Vienna for the "Come on!" art research project.
